RP 900 (MIL-PRF-32033) Water-Displacing Rust Preventative
RP 900 (MIL-PRF-32033) is a water-displacing, preservative lubricating oil for general purpose applications at low temperatures. RP-900 is an outstanding low viscosity, water displacing, non-toxic, non-staining rust preventative which will rapidly separate water displaced from metal surfaces after machining operations or after alkali cleaning. Ultra thin, highly protective films are applied with RP-900. These ultra thin films are effective in the protection of ferrous and non-ferrous metals from atmospheric corrosion even under conditions of high humidity.

INTENDED USE:
MIL-PRF-32033 is intended for lubrication and protecting against corrosion of certain small arms and automatic weapons and whenever a general purpose, water-displacing, low-temperature lubricating oil is required. This oil becomes very viscous at low temperatures so that its use at temperatures below -40°C is limited by a number of machine design factors and should be proved for any specific item application by test before adoption. The availability of this material in gas-pressurized containers will prove to be beneficial for use in areas difficult to preserve by existing procedures. This preservative oil should not be used to protect the fuel system and combustion chamber of engines which are preserved in accordance with standard procedures. This material contains a carboxylic acid which could react with certain metals present in the fuel system, forming soaps which could contribute to fuel filter plugging.
APPLICATION:
Maximum performance is achieved when using RP-900 when the metal surfaces to be protected are clean and dry and free of oil or mil scale / rust before application. RP-900 can be applied by dipping the parts to be protected in a vat or spraying the parts to be protected with air sprayers, pump type sprayers or by pouring the product over the parts.
REMOVAL:
Removal of protective films is accomplished by using a steam cleaner with an alkaline detergent or washing the parts in mineral spirits.
SHELF LIFE:
36 months (indoors, climate controlled). Product purchased from Flywheel Distribution, LLC is guaranteed to have 95% or greater remaining shelf life at time of purchase.
