MIL-PRF-81309 Type III - Corrosion Preventative Compound, Water-Displacing

MIL-PRF-81309 Type III (formerly MIL-C-81309) is a corrosion-preventive, water-displacing compound and lubricant that may be reapplied on a scheduled basis for continued protection. On exposed surfaces outside, expect protection to last between 7 to 30 days predicated on ambient environmental conditions. On internal areas or in protected storage protection can last as much as 1 year against corrosion as a result on humid conditions. MIL-PRF-81309 is available in two types: type II and type III.  Type III corrosion-preventive compound is for avionics and electrical equipment usage. It is not for use on exterior areas that will be exposed to the environment. Type III is used primarily on electrical connectors (cannon plugs) and micro switches to remove moisture and contaminants and to prevent corrosion.  If you are looking for TYPE II, please click here.

APPLICATION:
MIL-PRF-81309, Type III can be applied by dipping the parts to be protected in a vat or spraying the parts to be protected with air sprayers, pump type sprayers or by pouring the product over the parts.

REMOVAL:
Removal of protective films is accomplished by using a steam cleaner or washing the parts in mineral spirits.

SHELF LIFE:
36 months (indoors, climate controlled).   Product purchased from FlyWheel Distribution, LLC is guaranteed to have 95% or greater remaining shelf life at time of purchase.
