MIL-PRF-81309 Type II - Corrosion Preventative Compound, Water-Displacing

MIL-PRF-81309 Type II (formerly MIL-C-81309) is a corrosion-preventive, water-displacing compound and lubricant that may be reapplied on a scheduled basis for continued protection. On exposed surfaces outside, expect protection to last between 7 to 30 days predicated on ambient environmental conditions. On internal areas or in protected storage protection can last as much as 1 year against corrosion as a result on humid conditions. MIL-PRF-81309 is available in two types: type II and type III. Type II is used primarily used for external areas. It forms an effective barrier against moisture when used on B-nuts, linkages, bolts, nuts, ejection seat mechanisms, and canopy locks. When lubricating an area where there are no pressure lubricating fittings (zerk fittings), such as the piano hinges on access doors and control surfaces, spray with type II preservative compound to clean the area before application of VV-L-800 preservative oil to remove moisture and contaminants.   If you are looking for TYPE III, please click here.

APPLICATION:
MIL-PRF-81309, Type II can be applied by dipping the parts to be protected in a vat or spraying the parts to be protected with air sprayers, pump type sprayers or by pouring the product over the parts.

REMOVAL:
Removal of protective films is accomplished by using a steam cleaner or washing the parts in mineral spirits.

SHELF LIFE:
36 months (indoors, climate controlled).   Product purchased from FlyWheel Distribution, LLC is guaranteed to have 95% or greater remaining shelf life at time of purchase.
